Mathematics and Discovery Philosophy of Teaching Resume
Mathematics is empowerment.
Discovering a mathematical truth does not require outside arbitration; therefore the pride and confidence that comes with the discovery cannot be taken away. Nothing can change validity of a mathematical proof or the fit of a mathematical model. Students who discover mathematics learn not only the skills and techniques to get them through tests, but develop insights and confidence to get them through life. These are the students who come out of my class.
In more than a decade in the classroom,
I have taught students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. My teaching methods respond to my students, and evolve as I discover new ways to help students approach problems and navigate methods. However, the constant threads throughout my career have been helping students connect new knowledge to prior knowledge, and giving students the ownership of discovery.
